Global Identity

IU is anything but confined. We look beyond our classrooms, campus, and borders toward an international community. IU seeks to provide a global perspective by developing a vibrant international student body and establishing partnerships that encourage faculty and student participation.

IU currently brings together students, faculty, and staff from Africa and the Middle East. At IU, we are committed to being an international university and aim to expand globally in order to spread our educational values around the world.

The universality of knowledge in the information age, coupled with the increasing rate of cultural exchange, indicates that the international dimension of higher education must keep pace with the changes taking place globally. Internationalization is therefore essential for the University to fulfill its mission of creating and sharing knowledge, while providing a learning environment that prepares students, faculty, and staff to function effectively in an increasingly integrated global environment.

Study Abroad

The International University has a growing set of partnerships with quality higher education institutions around the world, managed by the Office of International Relations. These partnerships offer a variety of educational opportunities ranging from student exchange to faculty collaboration and joint research.

IU aims to develop its position as an internationally recognized university by providing its researchers, students, and external partners with excellent opportunities for collaboration. With this aim, IU takes an active part in many different networks and projects around the world and has established academic linkages with prestigious universities such as Hochschule Worms University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

IU is actively involved in discussions and tangible activities with one of its most strategic partners, namely Worms University of Applied Sciences, regarding student and faculty mobility. In the case of Worms University, there is collaboration in the form of a Dual Degree Program with IU’s School of Business. Students enrolled in this program complete the first two years of their degree studies at IU, then travel to Germany for the third year of study. Upon completion, students earn two degrees: one from IU and another from Worms University. This Dual Degree arrangement was first launched in 2010–2011.

A common feature of all degree programs is a practical approach to the respective subjects, a relatively short average duration of study, and an international orientation. Below are the basic characteristics of the IU/WORMS Exchange Program.

BBA (IMGT) Program

The duration of the program is three years, and the language of instruction is English. The student will attend two years at IU Lebanon and one year at WORMS University.

The student will take 69 credits at IU Lebanon and pay the applicable tuition fees. The cost of the remaining 32 credits, since the BBA consists of 101 credits, will be paid to IU once the student registers for the third year at WORMS University. Therefore, the student will not pay any additional tuition fees for the courses taken at WORMS University.

Upon successfully completing the BBA program, majoring in IMGT, the student will receive a BBA degree from IU and another degree from WORMS University.

The student will be allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the period of study at WORMS University.

The student will be allowed to work in Germany or the EU for a maximum of one year after graduation from WORMS University.

Students will be assisted by WORMS University in obtaining visas to Germany.

WMBA Program

The duration of the program is two years, and the language of instruction is English. The student will attend one year at IU Lebanon and one year at WORMS University.

The student will take 21 credits at IU Lebanon and pay the applicable tuition fees. The cost of the remaining 18 credits, since the MBA consists of 39 credits, will be paid once the student registers for the second year at Worms University. Therefore, the student will not pay any additional tuition fees for the courses taken at WORMS University.

Upon successfully completing the MBA program, the student will receive an MBA degree from IU and another degree from WORMS University.

The student will be allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the period of study at WORMS University.

The student will be allowed to work in Germany or the EU for a maximum of one year after graduation from WORMS University.

Students will be assisted by WORMS University in obtaining visas to Germany.

With an academic or cultural focus, and in cooperation with partner institutions from around the world to strengthen bilateral relations and areas of international collaboration, IU also has a Memorandum of Understanding with Heilbronn University in Germany. This agreement aims to develop a course of action or a set of activities, including a dual degree master’s program in International Business and Intercultural Management, and another program in Automotive Engineering.

Credit Mobility

Within the framework of its international affiliation and cooperation, IU offers its students and staff, both academic and administrative, the opportunity to gain European experience through student exchange, faculty teaching opportunities such as short courses, and staff training.

Accordingly, staff mobility for teaching and training has been undertaken over the past few years between IU and the International School for Social and Business Studies in Slovenia, funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.

As part of its internationalization strategy, IU has become a member of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), which represents 122 members from 24 countries.
