IU welcomes transfer students interested in obtaining an American-style education. All transfer students’ transcripts will be reviewed to determine which courses may be transferable toward their program of study at IU.

There are a number of majors students can transfer to. Accordingly, any credits transferred from institutions of higher education recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) are accepted, provided that the concerned School and Department ensure that the accepted credits are applicable to the corresponding degree program and that a minimum grade of “C” was obtained.

However, accepted transfer credits do not count toward the student’s GPA at IU. The criteria established by IU regarding this policy also depend on the School. A transfer student is required to complete at least 51% of the credits at IU in order to be eligible for a degree, while the remaining credits taken at other higher education institutions may be transferred if they satisfy the criteria of the concerned School and Department.

To ensure that transfer students have achieved the required learning outcomes and objectives specified by the concerned Department, the Department reserves the right not to grant transfer credit for courses listed under the major requirements category, even if students have taken similar courses at the institution they previously attended.

If you are transferring from another university, the documents listed below are required:

Certified copy of the Lebanese Baccalaureate Degree (BACCII), Technical Baccalaureate Degree (BT3), or their equivalence (Foreign Baccalaureate)
Certified copy of the university transcript + course description
1 copy of the identification card
1 copy of the family civil status record
1 recent passport-sized colored photo
All Lebanese applicants must submit their national social security papers (Daman), if available, or must pay $135 and fill out the appropriate papers at the Social Security Office.

1. What types of financial aid programs does IU offer?

Throughout their academic studies, students make many important financial decisions; therefore, careful planning is essential. It is important to equip students with the knowledge needed to make such decisions wisely. IU is here to help.

Financial Aid is a privilege granted to IU students. Assistance is available to students who demonstrate financial need, are in good standing, and are making satisfactory academic progress at the university.

The International University (IU) offers a Financial Aid program to all prospective students applying to any of the 60 majors offered by IU. This Financial Aid program is based on two important conditions. The first is the academic status of the student, including his or her high school performance, especially in Grade 12, and the results of the university placement test taken at IU. The second is the applicant’s social status.

In addition to this general program, IU offers a special scholarship program for high school students. Through this program, IU organizes annual competitions for baccalaureate students and provides several full scholarships to the winners. In addition, IU grants full scholarships to distinguished students and to students who rank first in their faculties across all campuses.

2. What is the response of students and parents to such programs?

The option of scheduling tuition payments on a monthly basis provides parents and students with more comfortable payment terms. The student’s tuition is divided into four payments per semester, or ten payments per year if the student is registered for the summer semester as well.

New IU students receive an orientation that introduces them to the campus location, registration procedures, and other important university policies. The orientation, conducted by IU representatives, is very important as it aims to help students transition smoothly from school life to university life. It also helps students feel more comfortable and prepared before starting their academic schedule.

Welcome to The International University (IU). The admissions process is simple, easy, and can be partially completed online. Applicants must first fill out the online application form at https://applb.iu.edu.lb/. Then, they should visit the Admissions Office to schedule a placement exam date and submit the required documents for their file.

Application Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

1- A photocopy of the national identity card or a valid passport
2- Two passport-size photos
3- Family Identification Record
4- Certificate of the Lebanese Baccalaureate: Life Sciences (LS), General Sciences (GS), Literature and Humanities (LH), or Economics and Sociology (ES), or an equivalent degree authenticated by the MEHE
Original certificate of National Social Security Fund coverage or its equivalent
5- Payment of the file opening and admission placement test fees

Applicants must sit for the University Placement Tests (UPT), which vary from one school to another depending on each school’s requirements. The different tests, along with their abbreviations, are listed below. Please note that students who have achieved a score of 50% or above in any of the UPT subjects during their high school/secondary school studies may be exempted from the corresponding placement test, except for Pre-Pharmacy applicants.

Each student who completes the placement tests will have the opportunity to pursue his or her academic studies. Based on the placement test results, students who need additional academic support will be placed in remedial courses designed to reinforce and strengthen their skills for success. Once the placement exams are completed, students will receive orientation and will be able to register online.

IU offers students a variety of programs at the freshman and undergraduate levels. Students may also transfer from other universities to IU. Their academic transcripts will be reviewed to determine which courses may be transferable toward their program of study at IU.
